Suprovat Sydney report: On Saturday, 21 February 2026, the Islamic Charity Projects Association (ICPA), under the patronage of Darulfatwa – The Islamic High Council of Australia, hosted its 32nd Annual Iftar themed “Provision for the Soul.” The gathering brought together political leaders, diplomats, and community representatives to promote discipline, empathy, moderation, and social harmony.
In his welcome address, Hajj Mehio highlighted Muslim identity as an integral part of Australia, stressed political independence beyond voting blocs, and reaffirmed ICPA’s focus on education, youth support, and family wellbeing.
Guests included federal and state representatives such as MP Anne Stanley (representing Prime Minister Anthony Albanese), MP Zhi Soon (representing Minister Tony Burke), Minister Sophie Cotsis (representing Premier Chris Minns), MP Julia Finn (representing Minister Chris Kamper), Opposition MP Kellie Sloane, and Senator Mark Buttigieg, alongside diplomats and local government leaders.
Speakers from government and opposition praised ICPA’s contribution to Australian multiculturalism. The evening concluded with Salim Alwan encouraging Muslims to present Islam through compassion, tolerance, and unity.
