Suprovat Sydney Report: Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP Australia held a protest rally in front of the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s residence (Kirribilli House) in Sydney on 5th February 2023.
The leader of BNP Australia, Mosleh Uddin Howlader Arif, presided over the protest rally demanding the release of the BNP chairperson, repeatedly elected Prime Minister Deshmata Begum Khaleda Zia, and withdrawal of the false case of Acting Chairman future prime minister Tarek Rahman.
Abdullah Yousuf Shamim, Editor in chief of the only Bangladeshi community Newspaper in Australia and founder of BNP Australia, addressed and read the memorandum, the rally led by ANM Masum.
Additionally, several leaders and activists delivered their speeches and among them were BNP leader Zakir Alam Lelin, Khairul Kabir Pintu, Mohammad Nasir Ahmed, Mohammad Kamruzzaman, SM Khaled, Mouhaimen Khan Mishu, Mohammad Zakir Hossain Raju, Abdul Karim, Noor Mohammad, Anwaruzzaman, Abdul Majid, Sheikh Mohammad Farid, Rashedul Islam, Fatun Nitu.
In the rally, various community leaders with banners and festoons from different places in Sydney requested the Australian government to Intervene to restore democracy in Bangladesh.
BNP leader Mosleh Uddin Howlader Arif said, currently the people of Bangladesh have no democratic rights, the administrative system, the judiciary, the election commission, and the government forces are working under a 14-year corrupt government where the day’s voting is done at night. Millions of dollars are being circulated abroad. We immediately sought the support of the Labor government for Khaleda Zia’s release and fair elections in Bangladesh.
Abdullah Yousuf Shamim said that BNP Chairperson and three-times elected malicious false cases have harassed former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in every possible way since 2007. This harassment took the form of throwing her out of her house.
Despite serious health problems, she has been denied medical treatment for extended periods of time in prison. Police and Awamiligh activists filed false criminal cases for harassing her, and the judiciary delayed her bail. At the end of the rally, the memorandum was presented to the Prime Minister of Australia.
