Canterbury Bankstown Mayoral Inspiring Iftar Dinner 2025

 

Suprovat Sydney Report: The Canterbury Bankstown City Council hosted a heartfelt Ramadan Iftar dinner, bringing together a diverse gathering of community leaders, distinguished guests, and local businessmen in an evening infused with reflection, unity, and compassion on Tuesday 18th March 2025.

Mayor Bilal Al-Hayek delivered a powerful speech, shedding light on the ongoing tragedy faced by the people of Gaza. He spoke about the immense suffering and the humanitarian crisis unfolding, emphasizing the entity’s efforts in addressing the aggression of Athim Gachem. His words resonated deeply with the attendees, and in a moment of solidarity, the audience observed a solemn silence to honor the souls of the martyrs.

The event was a true embodiment of the Ramadan spirit, fostering a sense of love, togetherness, and shared responsibility within the community. The warm ambiance of the evening was complemented by the presence of several notable figures, including Hon. Tony Burke MP, Hon. Jason Clare MP, and Hon. Jihad Dib MP, alongside respected Muslim scholars and key members of the business and civic communities.

Adding to the significance of the night, ANM Masum, representing Suprovat Sydney—the only Bangladeshi newspaper in Australia— participated as a live streamer for SS TV Australia, ensuring that the event reached a broader audience.
