2MFM Symposium 2025 Showcases the Power of Community Broadcasting

Suprovat Sydney reported: 2MFM – The Voice of the Muslim Community – successfully hosted the 2025 Community Broadcasting Symposium at Salamah College Community Hall, drawing a diverse audience of community leaders, media professionals, and representatives from key national broadcasting organisations.

Held under the banner “The Importance of Community Broadcasting in Australia,” the symposium highlighted the essential role that community radio plays in promoting social inclusion, cultural diversity, and grassroots empowerment across the country.

Distinguished guests from the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA), the Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF), and other stakeholders joined 2MFM presenters and community members for a day of discussion, reflection, and forward planning.

A major highlight of the event was recognition of 2MFM’s recent success at the 2025 NEMBC Gala Awards in Melbourne, where the station was honoured for its outstanding contributions to multicultural broadcasting and community engagement.

Interactive roundtable sessions focused on pressing issues such as increasing women’s participation in media, empowering youth voices, expanding multilingual programming, and embracing digital technologies. These discussions generated valuable input to guide 2MFM’s upcoming Community Action Plan.

In closing, 2MFM expressed heartfelt thanks to its dedicated team of staff and volunteers, as well as to all attendees and supporters, for their unwavering commitment to strengthening community broadcasting in Australia.

Among the distinguished attendees were Syed Zafar Hussain, Editor-in-Chief of Sada E Watan media; Hanif Bismy, CEO of Channel 5; and Md Abdullah Yousuf, Editor-in-Chief of Suprovat Sydney — the only Bangladeshi community newspaper in Australia.
