Mobarok Hossain Tany: Have you ever seen a banyan tree? A banyan tree is a large tree that develops aerial roots that grow from the branches and descend to the ground, creating a network that can spread over a vast area. It has some surprising benefits and they are 1. Medical uses, 2. Air purification 3. Soil conservation, 4. Shade and Cooling, 5. Spiritual and Cultural significance, 6. Wildlife habitat, 7.Carbon sequestration and so on. Now listen to a story, once there was a banyan tree in a certain village. It was too large to describe. The villagers used to get many benefits from the tree. But only the corrupted and dishonest people thought it was only for them. They worshiped the tree and used it as their wish. As they worshipped it, that’s why the tree was happy and silent. The tree helped them as they offered tribute to the tree. The tree had unseen power so that nobody could do any harm to it. Some aged and wise men used to say that it had a neighboring powerful tree by which it got the genuine power. Once it thought as I am one of the most powerful trees in the village, nobody is equal to me. So, who can stop me? During last rainy season, a sudden storm arose in the mid sea and hit the coastal area. It was a matter of sorrow that the powerful tree was uprooted by the sudden storm though it passed thousands of strong storms. Like the tree, once Sheikh Hasina had everything. She was considered as “The National Apa”. Here the word “Apa” means elder sister. Once she was the decision maker for the country. There was no one who did not follow her decisions. From the common man to the highest levels of administration, from promotions to dismissals, everything was at her hand.
Hasina thought that she would not step down from power before 2041, the reason is very clear that they were deeply rooted in the soil. Starting from the law department, the judiciary department, the administration department of Bangladesh had arranged every place in her own way. Even if she did not give an order, they worked enthusiastically for the Awami League to please Hasina. Be it extrajudicial killings, disappearances, murders or any other means. Even those who became new voters in the last 16 years have not yet been able to cast their first vote in their lives. Using the administration, the Hasina government filled the ballot boxes the night before the election. Moreover, there was sole cooperation from neighboring country. She did not even think of selling the country’s interests to consolidate her power. Her family and her employees have smuggled thousands of crores of taka abroad in the name of development by killing democracy. They have finished the country’s economy. And let me talk about the education system. A new system was introduced in the name of a new curriculum so that the new generation would forget about education. This new curriculum had everything except knowledge research and education. Although it was widely controversial. She thought that I am a banyan tree that could not be uprooted by any force in the world. Whoever came to remove him would have to move himself. But what a cruel irony of fate, July 2024 came. Students started organizing an anti-quota movement at Dhaka University. Because this quota system was basically enough to neglect the merits of the talented. On the other hand, those who were privileged were taking advantage of it for ages. To establish this logical demand, students gradually organized a nationwide movement. And as always, the Hasina government used its Chhatra League and police force to demonstrate its power. Although they wanted to suppress it with a strong hand, it had the opposite effect. Just when it was gradually getting stronger, on July 16, Bangladesh saw a new Noor Hossain in Rangpur. He was none other than Shaheed Abu Sayeed. Immediately after his death, the entire Bangladesh confronted the government with more courage. Even using the highest power and strategy, they could not be stopped. Because in all the movements of 16 years, no one except the political parties took to the field. Now, in protest of the oppression and killing of students, the general public, regardless of party affiliation, finally started taking to the field to bring down the government in one go. That was when Sheikh Hasina’s farewell bell rang. Even then, this bloodsucking Hasina did not stop the genocide. She called the chiefs of the three forces and tried her best. But it did not work. Such a storm has been created in the soil of Bengal that the powerful banyan tree has finally been uprooted. It is as if the other big tree next door, the banyan tree, are unable to believe in any way that it has been uprooted.
