Suprovat Sydney report : on 27 September 2026 the Federation of Bangladesh Medical Societies of Australia (FBMSA) announced its Executive Committee for 2026–2027 at its Annual General Meeting, Annual Conference and Scientific Symposium in Sydney.
Dr Rashid Ahmed of New South Wales was elected President, while Dr Golam Sarwar of Queensland was elected General Secretary. The election was conducted by Election Commissioner Dr Md Wazid.
Other office-bearers include Vice Presidents Dr Mohammed Shahid Rajoo and Dr Mahfuz Chowdhury, Joint Secretary Dr Md Lutfor Rahman, Treasurer Dr Farhana Roushan Khan, Education Secretary Dr Satila Zafreen, Organising Secretary Dr Mohammad Imtiaz Choudhury and Publication Secretary Dr Ashraf Ul Islam. Dr Mosarraf Hossain Khan serves as Immediate Past President.
FBMSA connects Bangladeshi doctors’ societies across Australia’s six states and two territories. The new committee will expand professional, educational, scientific and community activities, with particular emphasis on mentoring and supporting doctors migrating from Bangladesh.
The federation also aims to strengthen partnerships between Australia and Bangladesh, promoting the exchange of medical knowledge, skills and experience to support healthcare, medical education and research.
