Shapla Shaluk Foundation Launches Appeal to Distribute 10,000 Winter Blankets in Bangladesh.

Suprovat Sydney Report: Shapla Shaluk Foundation Australia has launched its 2026 Winter Blanket Appeal, aiming to distribute 10,000 warm blankets to underprivileged families in northern Bangladesh.

The foundation said the initiative seeks to support vulnerable communities facing severe cold, dense fog and financial hardship during winter.

Founder and Chairman Dr Moinul Islam appealed to individuals, community organisations and business leaders across Australia to support the campaign and share the appeal through their networks.

“Together we serve the community” is the foundation’s guiding motto, reflecting its commitment to collective action in helping people in need.

According to the appeal, each blanket is expected to cost approximately BDT 600–1,000, or AUD $8–$12, depending on its size, weight and quality. The foundation has outlined an estimated project budget of AUD $50,000–$100,000 and said it would seek economical purchasing arrangements while maintaining quality.

Suggested contributions include $120 for 10 blankets, $240 for 20, $600 for 50 and $1,200 for 100. Donations of any amount are welcome, and supporters may contribute individually or collectively through their organisations.

The foundation said donations can be made through the secure payment page accessible via the QR code or payment link on its campaign flyer, with PayPal, credit card and Apple Pay options available.

The winter appeal forms part of the organisation’s broader charitable activities in Australia and Bangladesh.

In Australia, the foundation says its work includes funeral and repatriation assistance for families experiencing financial hardship, voluntary first-aid services at large multicultural events, campaigns against domestic violence, and emergency assistance for medical treatment, food and essential needs. It is also working towards a long-term goal of establishing an aged care facility for Sydney’s Bangladeshi community.

In Bangladesh, its activities are coordinated locally by Mrs Razia Samad Dahlia. The foundation reports that it has built 13 permanent shelters in Sherpur and Jamalpur and installed nine arsenic-free deep tube wells with water-storage facilities in Feni and Sherpur.

Other initiatives include Ramadan food packs, Qurbani meat distribution, and medical and livelihood assistance for vulnerable individuals.

Dr Islam urged community members to extend their support to the blanket campaign, saying collective contributions could help bring warmth and comfort to families facing a difficult winter.

Further information, donation arrangements and receipt enquiries are available through the foundation’s campaign flyer and its “Contact Us” facility.
