Suprovat Sydney report: The NSW local government elections on 14th September 2024 resulted in the unprecedented election of five Liberal councillors to the City of Canada Bay Council, including Michael Megna as the popularly elected mayor.
One of the these newly elected councillors, Sylvia Alafaci, is the Secretary of the Australian Business Summit Council Inc. and co-founder of EKONOMOS business affairs magazine.
Married to Dr Frank Alafaci PhD, the ABSC Inc. president and lecturer in MBA studies at UBSS, Sylvia Alafaci is also a past Director of Club Service and Vocational Service at the Rotary Club of Five Dock and a former Board Member of the Australia China Friendship and Exchange Association.
Mrs Alafaci is a well-known member of the Korean-Australian community and former Secretary of the Asian Australian Business Council Inc., co-organising the 2015 Korean Australian Forum on East Asian Sovereignty Disputes and the 2018 NSW Asian Business Excellence Awards Gala Dinner to promote, showcase and recognise the achievements of notable Asian Australian businesses.
She has also co-organised business networking events, media conferences and annual gala dinners for the Australian Business Summit Council Inc., featuring eminent business leaders, political leaders and members of the diplomatic corps.
Sylvia Alafaci’s steadfast devotion to serving the local community attracted public recognition in 2018 with the conferral of a community service award for outstanding services to the Chinese-Australian community from the Hon. Mark Coure MP (Member for Oatley).
