Suprovat Sydney report: The Campbelltown City Council hosted its third annual Mayoral Iftar Dinner, a significant event celebrating unity, diversity, and the spirit of Ramadan. Despite the absence of Mayor George Gresis, Deputy Mayor Masud Khalil warmly welcomed distinguished guests and community leaders to this memorable occasion.

The evening commenced with an insightful discourse by Muslim scholar Sheikh Walid, who eloquently emphasized the profound significance of the holy month of Ramadan. Sheikh Walid underscored the importance of Ramadan to the Muslim ummah, highlighting that it marks the revelation of the Quran, the final divine guidance for humanity.

Among the esteemed guests were Sheikh Abdul Al Naser and Sheikh Redwan, alongside various dignitaries including Deputy Mayor of  Wollondilly, Cr Matthew Deeth, Deputy General Manager Jai Rowell, and Ben Hoyle. Additionally, the presence of Chairman of the Pacific Council, Mal Fauren, and esteemed journalists Eric Knot and Brian Lal added to the event’s prestige.

Multicultural Advisory Board Member Omer Incekara, Cr Masud Chowdhury, and leaders from diverse faith communities also graced the occasion, fostering a sense of inclusivity and solidarity.

Deputy Mayor Masud Khalil expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming success of the event and assured attendees that the tradition would continue in the future. He extended an invitation to join in the upcoming Ramada celebrations at Lithgow Street on the 22nd and 23rd of March, promising another enriching experience for all.
